Three Programmes.
Each Complete in Itself.
Wrenford offers structured consulting engagements in three areas where clear analysis and written deliverables tend to produce the most useful outcomes for organisations.
Return to HomepageHow Each Engagement Works
Each programme follows a defined structure: initial scoping conversation, engagement letter, analytical phase, client workshop, and written deliverable. The sequence is consistent across all three programmes; the content and tools vary according to the specific focus.
Work begins only after an engagement letter has been signed. The analytical phase is conducted independently by the consulting team, drawing on information provided by the client and on Wrenford's own research. The client workshop — typically one session — is a structured review of preliminary findings and a mechanism for testing conclusions before the final document is written.
The final document is delivered in writing. It is structured for executive readability and is designed to be used directly — shared with a board, referenced in planning, or circulated to relevant stakeholders without further interpretation.
Initial Conversation
45-minute discussion to understand your situation and confirm programme fit. No commitment at this stage.
Engagement Letter
Scope, fee, timeline, and NDA signed by both parties before work begins.
Analysis Phase
Independent analytical work by the consulting team. Minimal demand on client time during this phase.
Leadership Workshop
Structured review of preliminary findings with your leadership team. Conclusions tested before final document is written.
Written Deliverable
Final document delivered. Board-ready, written in plain language, designed to be used directly.
Annual Strategic Review
A structured annual engagement where consultants facilitate a comprehensive review of your strategic plan against actual performance, changed market conditions, and emerging opportunities. Over three weeks, the team prepares analysis, facilitates a review workshop with leadership, and delivers an updated strategic brief for the year ahead.
This programme is suited to organisations that have a strategic plan — whether formal or informal — but have not subjected it to rigorous external review in the past year. It is also appropriate for businesses facing changed circumstances that require a recalibration of priorities before the year proceeds further.
What is Included
- Pre-workshop document review and performance analysis
- External market and competitive landscape assessment
- Facilitated leadership workshop (half-day)
- Updated strategic brief — written, board-ready
- Timeline: three weeks from engagement start
Best Suited For
- Businesses that completed a planning process more than 12 months ago
- Organisations facing a significant change in market conditions
- Leadership teams that want an independent view of their strategic position
- Boards requiring an annual external strategic review as part of governance
Best Suited For
- Organisations considering outsourcing for the first time
- Businesses reviewing an existing outsourcing arrangement
- Companies under cost pressure evaluating function elimination or transfer
- Management teams that want a well-reasoned paper before presenting a proposal to the board
Outsourcing Evaluation
Assesses which functions or processes in your organisation could benefit from external delivery — weighing cost, quality, control, and risk considerations. Over four weeks, consultants build a make-versus-buy analysis for each candidate function and recommend a phased approach. Includes transition planning guidance.
The engagement does not begin from a presumption that outsourcing is the right answer. Functions are assessed on their own merits and the analysis may well conclude that internal delivery remains appropriate. The value is in having a well-reasoned written record of how the decision was reached, regardless of which way it falls.
What is Included
- Function mapping and candidate function identification
- Cost, quality, control, and risk framework for each function
- Make-versus-buy analysis document
- Phased transition plan (where outsourcing is recommended)
- Timeline: four weeks from engagement start
Intellectual Property Strategy
Helps companies understand, catalogue, and develop strategies for their intellectual assets — patents, trademarks, proprietary processes, and trade knowledge. A five-week engagement that produces an IP register, a protection priority list, and a monetisation options paper.
Suited for companies that have built valuable knowledge but lack a formal IP posture. This includes organisations that have developed proprietary methods over years of practice without formally identifying or protecting them, as well as businesses that own registered IP but have not examined how it fits into a coherent strategy.
What is Included
- IP asset identification and cataloguing sessions
- IP register — documented inventory of all identified assets
- Protection priority list with recommended actions
- Monetisation options paper covering licensing, assignment, and commercialisation
- Timeline: five weeks from engagement start
Best Suited For
- Organisations that have developed proprietary methods without formal IP protection
- Businesses considering a sale, investment, or licensing arrangement
- Companies that own registered IP but have not assessed its strategic value
- Teams wanting to understand what they own before a competitive situation arises
